I'll be frank, I liked the idea behind Fiverr.com.

Only a couple of clicks and a client can place an order with a freelancer according to a specific set of deliverables.

Sure, however, it comes at a price. A huge one.

That is just one the very few freelance platforms in which buyers are given free reign to abuse, sabotage and blackmail vendors any way they like.

In this post, I'd like to talk about a recent bad experience for a vendor on Fiverr, and also why I chose to give up on the stage entirely.

(I have been guiding her on building a respectable accounts, and the way to go beyond and above every previous purchase. Everything stated is that her doing, I'm only an audience )

In cases like this, she'd only gotten another $5 order on her emblem gig, which appeared to be like any other... so we thought.

The purchase was fulfilled in great time, and my girlfriend had even included a bonus emblem concept in addition to the source file (that is usually part of the more expensive bundle ).

The client"loved" among those concepts and so we proceeded to ship her the appropriates file sizes, as stated in the final description.

The client came back asking for a social networking kit to go with the emblem, something that is obviously not available as part of her post.

In my advice, my girlfriend decided to provide the additional job, despite not getting paid any extra for it.

After that, the customer responded with even more demands and a few modifications to the social media files.

At this time, she agreed enough was enough.

Despite every attempt to please this person, they were clearly overstepping their bounds here.

That is when the customer went from only overstepping boundaries to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of carrying my girlfriend's Fiverr standing hostage.)

While she took a while to contemplate a reply and reach to Fiverr support for help, the customer did finally go on and render a 1 star review.

Presumably this is to demonstrate her he/she wasn't Cymphony Blog - App review: Fiverr kidding.

Shortly after, while still waiting on Fiverr's answer to his response the service query, the customer paid an extra $10 to your social media kit.

Naturally, the payment has been accompanied by still another threat.

Now, all I wanted to do was go all Liam Neeson and search this person down so I could repeatedly punch them in the face.

However, at the moment, I still had hope that Fiverr service would step in and rescue my girlfriend out of this PITA client.

After the answer came from Fiverr support, they told that they couldn't Fiverr What Is A Gig - Learn To Grow Wealth Online force the buyer to accept the order.

Alright, that is reasonable enough. (though the buyer accepted it.)

They also proposed drawing up a listing for the buyer to reveal the work has been done in accordance to the gig prerequisites.

My girlfriend hauled in her initial email the customer was attempting to extort her for free work out the agreed conditions, by leaving a negative inspection if she did not comply.

Naturally, it wasn't about the work, it had been about seeking protection from an abusive customer who had been intentionally pushing his luck.

Their answer did not give us any confidence that Fiverr really understood that, and even in this point we felt like they didn't need to get involved.

At exactly the identical time, she responded to the buyers most recent danger, explaining that she would not continue to function together unless the comments was changed/removed.

(Again, this will be feedback which was clearly and intentionally made to bully her into supplying work outside the agreed provisions )

An honest request by anyones standards, appropriate?

Rather than acknowledge what the purchaser had done up until this time, Fiverr immediately turned the tables on my girlfriend.

Turns out, she had been the only breaking all the rules.

Because she'd asked the client to modify their feedback, she was no longer entitled to some help from Fiverr assistance.

It's possible to imagine how we felt reading this.

Everything that the purchaser had done and said prior to her very last message has been now being swept under the carpet -- as if never happened whatsoever.

Fiverr basically decided to encourage a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend with a permanent stain in an account she'd worked so difficult to accumulate.

And think, there are loads of buyers doing exactly this on Fiverr, knowing they can and will eliminate it.

But as all this was happening, I did some investigating to determine if any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with a purchaser.

Quite quickly, I discovered a range of almost equal cases on the Fiverr forum dated years back. (that's right, years.)

This is clearly something which's been going on for a long time and it all stems from giving buyers too much power over vendors.

If there's one thing I've heard about Fiverr, it's that customers are ALWAYS more appreciated than freelancers.

Regardless of how long you put into a project, or just how hard you've worked on it, or even how long you managed communication during a dispute, even when it really boils down to it... freelancers have little to no security.

Even when it is a very clear cut situation in your favor, there is still every chance the customer will come out on top. It takes it one tiny thing you"did wrong" in accordance with their own conditions of service and EVERYTHING else is disregarded

Taking a look at the evidence, it is clear to me that Fiverr is well aware of what's happening, yet is still willing to settle back and let it happen.

If you are a decision maker in Fiverr and you're reading this, then I implore you to seriously reconsider your existing support procedures for freelancers.

It is not right that somebody can place all that time and effort into establishing an account and also over-delivering at every conceivable opportunity, just to be shot down by the very people you rely on to safeguard you.

Look, I don't need to leave Fiverr. I really don't need to be telling people to prevent your own platform.

But after everything that has happened, you haven't left me any decision.

Until something is done in order to protect freelancers from using this sort of abuse, I will continue to propagate this article and do anything I could to prevent others from falling victim to your one-sided support team.

The second you really do something about it and also provide freelancers a way to fight back, I will be more than happy to update the post.
